7 Restriction of Freedom of Movement

The Ministry of the Interior may issue a decision on the restriction of movement, and you will then be placed in the Reception Center, for the following reasons:
•  if it is suspected that you are abusing the international protection approval procedure because you applied for international protection after you had already been placed in the Reception Center for Foreigners and were in the process of forced removal from Croatia;
•  if it is necessary to establish the facts on which you are basing the application, and there is a risk of absconding;
•  for the protection of national security and public order in Croatia;
•  if your identity or citizenship has not been established.

You can stay in the Reception Center for foreigners for a maximum of three months. Exceptionally, accommodation can be extended for a maximum of three months.
You will receive an official decision on accommodation, and you have the right to file a complaint with the administrative court against that decision within eight days. Along with the decision, you will receive a list of free legal aid providers that you can contact. The court is obliged to decide within 15 days from the date of delivery of the case files.
You will receive a more detailed explanation of why you have been placed in the mentioned center from an official person, and the decision will be handed to you in the presence of a translator for the language you state you speak and understand.
